About Deer Creek Golf Course

Golf Digest Magazine has rated Deer Creek Golf Club 3 1/2 stars and it's really no surprise to any golfer who has enjoyed the challenge of this fine 18-hole course.

Located in the far southern Chicago suburb of University Park, Deer Creek Golf Club is truly a quality championship level course.

The golf course lays out at 6,905 yards from the black championship tees for a par of 72. The slope is 129 and from the black tees, Deer Creek is rated at 73.2. From the forward green tees the course is rated at 69.9 with a slope of 117.

Deer Creek has hosted several major golf events since opening in 1971. The course has been home to Illinois Open Qualifying, PGA Professional Qualifying as well as the Illinois Oldsmobile (Buick) Scramble Sectional. But, even if you're not ready to try to qualify for the PGA, Deer Creek is a rewarding and challenging course. With four sets of tees, bent grass greens, 55 sand bunkers and 7 lakes, Deer Creek is not only beautiful, but a fair challenge to golfers of all skill levels.

There's also a practice area with full shot and short game areas so you can warm up and gather your stroke before hitting the course. Deer Creek also has both men's and women's locker rooms with showers and amenities. The golf course also has a full dining menu along with a great 19th hole for sitting back and reliving, or possibly forgetting the day's golf.

We're featuring three of Deer Creek Golf Club's great holes here on Look Around Golf. We've got the Par 3, 182 yard, handicap of 5, Hole #8, a pretty little hole requiring a bit of risk and reward thinking as the water plays close to the green. We also have the very tough Par 4, 443 yard, handicap of 2, Hole #16 which has water running all along the right side. Then there's the dogleg Par 4, 402 yard, handicap of 8, Hole #18 a great finishing hole that, while challenging, gives you a chance to finish on the upside.
