The Southwest Chicago Suburb of Orland Park, Illinois is the home of Silver Lake Country Club, one of the very best golf facilities in the entire Chicagoland region. With two championship 18-hole courses (the North and South courses) and one of the very best 9-hole "Executive" style courses, Silver Lake Country Club has something for golfers of all skill levels and a scenic, serene beauty that makes you feel like you're far away from the hustle and bustle.
Let's start with a breakdown of the three courses.
The North Course was originally built in 1927 as a private club called Euclid Hills. The course is a par 72 that measures 6,600 yards from the back tees. The North Course at Silver Lake Country Club has hosted several qualifying tournaments as well as playing host to The National Public Links Championship. Big hitters will be tested on the three long par fours of holes 9, 10 and 11 and while the course is challenging for low handicappers and scratch golfers, it is still quite an enjoyable play for beginners due to the four sets of tees. The North Course has a rating of 72.1 and a slope of 119.
We have two of those long par fours, the 441 yard Hole #10, the 421 yard, Hole #11 and the over the water to the tight green of the par 3, 148 yard Hole #18 on the Look Around Golf Golf Course Directory and Virtual Golf Course Tour. The South Course is a 6,000 yard par 70 course, designed by Charles Maddox and Frank P. McDonald, that's best described as "sporty". The South Course puts an emphasis on a golfers accuarcy with tight fairways, lots of bunkers, water hazards on more than half the holes and some deceptively tricky greens. There's opportunity for golfers of all skill levels to enjoy the challenges of the South Course with 4 sets of tees. Along the way you'll play 6 par threes, two of which measure out over 200 yards.
We have the water hazard laden par 4, 417 yard Hole #8, the long par 5, 471 yard Hole #12 and the par 4, 417 yard Hole #17 featured on the Look Around Golf Golf Course Directory and Virtual Golf Course Tour. And now we come to that little 9-hole executive style course, Rolling Hills. Of the three courses at Silver Lake Country Club, this one is a personal favorite and truly aptly named. There are lots of great elevation changes and just beautiful natural scenery and mature trees. Rolling Hills is just beautiful. If you're a golfer who is used to a flatter course and long for some changes in the topography, you need to come down to Orland Park and play Rolling Hills. The course lays out at 1,587 yards and features lots of water to get in trouble with. Rolling Hills is perfect for the low handicapper to practice his short game or tp teach a friend about the game, but it's also forgiving enough for beginners with two sets of tees.
We have the par 4, 237 yard Hole #3, the par 3, 173 yard Hole #7 and the par 3, 155 yard Hole #9 on the Look Around Golf Golf Course Directory and Virtual Golf Course Tour. Besides having expansive and beautiful banquet and wedding facilities, Silver Lake has a great Pro Shop, a fabulous 19th Hole bar and restaurant and 8 raquetball courts along with a complete fitness center with a personal trainer.
