In this video, Bert Coghill, Director of Golf at Silver Lake Country Club in Orland Park, Illinois discusses the history and development of the course, the challenges facing golf courses today and his love for hickory golf clubs and vintage golf.

In the conclusion of the interview Bert talks about some of his favorite moments in golf. Including a trip to Ireland…enjoying some of the great golf Ireland has to offer. He talks about how he has recently started playing with hickory clubs for more of a challenge(I wish I had that problem in my golf game). Furthermore, Bert does a fantastic job of summing up some of the great reasons golf has such an appeal. The challenge, variety and thrill of this great sport we all love.

In this section Bert talks about some of the challenges facing the golfing industry. Such as the difference between younger and older golfers and the changes in family dynamics over the years. As well as some of the parallels between current times and the great depression in the industry. Bert also tells us about some of the more recent updates that have come to Silverlake Country Club. Including green conditions and his favorite hole on the property.

Bert talks about some of the fantastic features of Silverlake Country Club, including the fantastic (voted #1) executive 9 hole course Rolling Hills. The fantastic staff and team at Silverlake Country Club, and the great effort they put into making every guests experience extraordinary be it a shotgun start or single round. Bert also tells us about his personal roots in golf and how he came to take up the business of golf. As well as some of the changes that have occurred over the years.

In this section, Bert talks about how his family originally became involved in golf as the owners of Cog Hill Golf and Country Club. After selling to the Jemseks, Berts family bought what would become Silverlake Country Club. The addition of Euclid Hills in Orland Park, IL into the property and some of the great features of the course are also mentioned.
