Wing Park Golf Club is a great example of why nearly every golf course is perfect in and of itself. It all comes down to why you’re playing it. Wing Park is a classic, Victorian-era 9 hole course. It’s on the National Register of Historic Places. Is it a challenging course for a seasoned golfer? Not really, but it makes a very enjoyable “quick 9″ for that golfer. It’s the perfect place for the beginner to learn the game and for any golfer to tune up their swing.
Not every course needs to be, or for that matter should be, a PGA-style challenge and Wing Park Golf Club delivers a very good golf experience and an excellent value. A small water feature and a few bunkers are really the only obstacles and the greens are small, typical of courses of that era.
You can rent clubs at Wing Park Golf Club, which is another reason it’s a great place to bring a friend who is just “getting their feet wet” in the game.

For those of us that can’t get enough golf, here’s a couple of great blogs to spend some time with on a rainy day or evening. The first is http://beavergolf.blogspot.com/
The Beaver Golf blog is a well written and tasty mix of equipment and course reviews along with other stray thoughts on what’s going on in the game. There’s a great review of Mistwood Golf Course in Romeoville, Illinois. The review really tells why Mistwood is such a great place to play.
The second blog worth checking out is The Grouchy Golf Blog, a perfect slice of opinionated, irreverent and just very enjoyable golf talk. Check it out at http://www.grouchygolf.com/
